3 Things I would Never Buy for My Dogs

Navigating through the maze of pet products....

Nylabones: Plastic Bones? No Thanks!

Many pet shops sell bones made from plastic, and I would not want my dogs chewing on these. Plastic bones can contain microplastics that could be harmful if ingested. Additionally, they are often too hard and can cause tooth fractures.

Instead, I opt for natural chews like raw lamb bones, dried beef muscles and ostrich wings, which are a healthier options for my Rottweilers and still durable.

Anti-Pull Harness: Comfort over Pain

No harness can stop a dog from pulling unless it inflicts pain or discomfort. These anti-pull harnesses can press onto joints and even alter a dog's gait, potentially leading to arthritis in the future.

If looking for a harness, consider an ergnomically designed harness which fits well and gives the dog freedom of movement.

Personally, I prefer flat collars for my adult dogs so that during exercise they can move freely. I would not want to subject my dogs to discomfort or pain while walking.

Treats containing cereals & animal derivatives

Many popular dog treat brands contain cereal and animal derivatives.

These ingredients can cause digestive issues for dogs and are not good long-term as it is simply junk food and affects a dog's health negatively. So it is essential to always check the ingredient list, as the labels on the front of the package will not tell you the truth.

To ensure my dog's wellbeing, I opt for treats that contain minimal and natural ingredients, providing nutrients for a healthy and balanced diet.
